The thermometer can also be used to measure the internal temperature of a smoker as well as cook meat in an electric roaster. It uses 1AAA battery which is included. The thin probe itself is 6 1/8 inches long; total length of the piece including the knurled end (from point to the wire) is 8 3/8 inches.
