The Northern Brewer Maelstrom Stir Plate is a tool designed for yeast propagation. It includes a spinning magnet in the base of the plate that corresponds with the magnetic stir bar that accompanies it. The plate is meant to be used with liquid wort to create starters, and it is equipped with a 25mm stir bar that is included. However, it is not recommended to be used with concave bottom carboys of 5 or 6.5 gallons and only supports 120V power supply. The stir plate produces an audible sound when turned on, but it is not Considered noisy. It does not include a keeper magnet or stir bar removal tool. While it could work with organic virgin olive oil, the company does not guarantee it.
