Answer: Yes, it is specially formulated for cleaning and protecting sterling, gold-, and silver-plated items. -

Answer: The R-22 tarnish-preventing agent locks out tarnish up to 10 times longer than standard polishes. -

Answer: No, this is not a dip, but a cream like cleaner. I use it with a sponge or cloth. Keeps tarnish away for months. -

Is this safe to use on silver plated knives with stainless steel blades?
Answer: I use it for my silver candlesticks and a silver cup and tray - that's it. When I bought it, I thought it would be the silver soap-like stuff I've bought in the past, but it wasn't. Anyway, you could try a small area and see if it's okay. -

Is this product non-toxic? What is this 'R-22 agent' tarnish preventative that the description mentions???
Answer: No idea. It does what its supposed to, cleans silver. I would assume that it is toxic and I wear gloves anyway. -

Can you safely use this on abalone shell jewelry set in silver?
Answer: I would only use it on the silver part if possible and be careful not to get any on the abalone. For things that are too intricate or delicate to use cleaners on, I use a Hagerty silvercloth. -

Will these discolor or harm gems or stones?
Answer: I would not use this on all gems. The cleaner is designed for silver flatware and housewares, not jewelry. It could severely damage opals, turquoise and similar soft stones, coated crystals, and pearls. If you need to clean silver with gemstones, use a cleaner designed for jewelry. -

Answer: I use this for anything that is made of sterling silver. I have used it on jewelry with gems and stones. -

What hagerty's polish provides the most shine?
Answer: They all provide plenty of shine. The difference is that one is more coarse, one is fine, and one leaves a protective coating on the silver to delay tarnish. Go to their website and check it out. I agree with Phoebe about Tarn-X, she describes it aptly. I prefer the Hagerty's with the silver label. It's the same as in the blue jar but protects longer. -

Answer: This for serious polishing. Wash if the tarnish is mild. I've used this for years and it's the best.
