Tascam Digital DP-006 Editorial Review
The Tascam DP-006 is an entry-level, portable, multitrack audio recorder that boasts dual stereo built-in mics and two 1/4 inch inputs for dynamic mics. It doesn't provide phantom power and effects send, but the onboard mics are of good quality and quite adequate for the purpose. It's easy to use, but there is a bit of a learning curve. With that said, it's functionally versatile and can provide a click track if needed, as well as tuner assistance. Using the DP-006 in a music studio may require purchasing a power supply to save battery costs. Although there are a few downsides to the device, including buying the adapter separately, potential compatibility issues with SD cards, and the importance of saving tracks regularly, the knobs are sturdy and the device is lightweight. Overall, the DP-006 is a good entry-level recorder with good sound quality for line in recordings, though it may be necessary to use an external mic for recording vocals.
