    Answer: Both ends of this Vogelzang DR55 Drum are permanently sealed. Grated tops are not available.
  • Question: Can you heat water in this drum using a flame beneath it?

    Answer: I used it as a burn barrel. So I think you can heat water in it.
  • Question: Is this drum stronger than other barrels?

    Answer: These drums are similar to other 55 gallon barrels in terms of strength and rust resistance. The additional cost is mainly due to oversized shipping charges.
  • Question: Do I have to burn off the paint or other residue before installing it as a wood stove?

    Answer: It arrives unpainted raw steel. There is no coating that needs to be burned off.
  • Question: Why have two barrels for a wood stove?

    Answer: One barrel is for the fire and heat, while the other barrel is for more effective heat distribution. This allows for twice the heat area convection. Fire bricks can be used in the bottom barrel to regulate heat levels.
  • Question: Can this drum store gasoline?

    Answer: This drum is not designed to hold fuels of any kind.
  • Question: Does this drum have any paint or coating on the inside?

    Answer: There is no paint or coating either inside or outside of the drum.
  • Question: How was the inside of the drum cleaned if both ends are sealed?

    Answer: The method used to clean the inside of the drum is not known. However, it is possible that whatever was previously in the barrel was easy to clean up.
  • Question: Is this barrel suitable for storing non-ethanol gas?

    Answer: This barrel is not designed to hold fuels of any kind.
