Brocraft Mini Manual Downrigger for Kayak & Small Boats, Deck or Side Mount, 100 ft Stainless Steel Wire, Lake Trolling

The editorial review of the Brocraft Downrigger indicates a mixed but generally positive reception among users, particularly for small boats and kayaks. Users have acknowledged the well-Constructed nature of the downrigger, with many noting its suitable size for kayak usage. However, the most significant point of contention seems to be the performance on certain types of vessels, especially with heavier weights. One customer made it clear that using the downrigger on a Lifetime Tamarack Angler kayak resulted in excessive drag and instability, making rowing cumbersome. Despite this, he found that the setup performed much better on his Classic Accessories Colorado pontoon boat. This suggests that the downrigger may not be optimal for all kayak types and that users should Consider their specific setup before purchasing. Notably, several reviews pointed out discrepancies with the advertised cable length, with many receiving only around 65 feet instead of the promised 100 feet. This shortfall has led some customers to invest in additional accessories like braided cables and release clips to enhance the downrigger's functionality. There are also observations about compatibility issues with Scotty mounts, causing some frustration for users who expected interchangeability. Despite these drawbacks, a few customers still recommended this downrigger over others on the market, citing its better quality and ease of use. In conclusion, while the Brocraft Downrigger has received favorable comments regarding its design and build quality, potential buyers should weigh the compatibility and performance aspects carefully, particularly if they plan to use it on specific kayak models. **
