Gold Tone Ukuleles BU-1 Editorial Review

Gold Tone BU-1: Concert-Scale Banjo Ukulele with Gig Bag The Gold Tone BU-1 Banjo Ukulele is a well-crafted instrument with a sleek satin finish and a sunburst design on the back of the neck. The rim hardware is simple but well executed, and the unbranded tuning machines are of good quality. The fret ends are well dressed and smooth. The neck is thicker than a typical ukulele neck, providing proper balance for the banjo pot, but this may make compatibility with some ukulele capos an issue. At 15-1/2", it is on the longer end of the concert scale, and the 1-7/16" wide fretboard feels roomy and comfortable to play, giving it a tenor-like feel. The strings used are of unknown brand, but are well-tuned and have settled in well during shipping. The banjo ukulele has a loud, banjo-like sound, but with a unique reentrant tuning and ukulele strings, it definitely has its own voice. The Gold Tone BU-1 Banjo Ukulele comes with a well-made, snugly fitting soft carrying case that provides ample protection.
