Matchbox Twenty Format: Audio CD Country Rock 0075678623592 Editorial Review
In an engaging exploration of their latest album "Where The Light Goes," Matchbox Twenty has crafted a collection that resonates with both nostalgia and newfound clarity, much to the delight of longtime fans. Rather than sticking rigidly to their earlier sound, the band demonstrates a willingness to evolve, blending elements reminiscent of both their previous work and Rob Thomas's solo endeavors. Fans appreciate the fun and upbeat nature of the tracks, along with the deeper, thought-provoking lyrics that the band has been known for. Listeners find that the songs are not only enjoyable but also addictive, making it easy to play the album on repeat without growing tired of it. The commendation for Rob Thomas's vocal performance is noteworthy, with many praising his evolution over the years, while Kyle Cook's contributions further enhance the experience, adding layers to the band's signature sound. However, there are mixed feelings regarding the production quality; some listeners feel it veers toward a synthetic pop sound that doesn’t quite align with the raw energy of their earlier albums. Overall, while "Where The Light Goes" showcases the band's ability to adapt and grow, it seems some fans long for a return to the more organic sound of their first few albums. Nonetheless, the chemistry of the band and their talent for songwriting shines through, ensuring that this album is a welcome addition to their discography, albeit with room for stylistic improvement in future projects. **
