If you have a shorted cable, the light will still light up green to say that the cable is "good". The Cable Tester Professional RJ45BNC Cable Tester is reasonably priced, but it is cheaply made, and the instructions are minimal. Users may need a magnifying lens to read the one-inch square insert. Additionally, although the title states that it tests RJ45, a standard RJ45 connector will not fit into the testing slot. It will only fit an RJ11 type connector.
