Slice Utility Knives Editorial Review
The Slice 10490 Metal-Handle Utility Knife has a Finger Friendly Ceramic Blade and 3 Cutting Depths, with a heavy metal handle that has a comfortable grip. It can store an extra blade, can be used ambidextrously, and has an easy blade change. This tool can cut through different materials including carpets and shrink wrap. Slice has created safer blades with thoughtful handle design, going beyond standard knife safety level charts. Customer Experience: Several customers were disappointed with this product. Some complained that the supplied ceramic blade couldn't cut through even single-ply cardboard without tremendous effort, and that it got stuck, tore the cardboard, refused to cut packing tape, and generally was a horror to use. Some customers experienced problems with the locking mechanism not working, with the blade hardly working, weighing less, and not cutting paper without tearing it. One customer said they couldn't remove the screw to lower the blade. However, a customer who works in a warehouse as a line operative rated the knife as good and ideal, stating that it works great for opening boxes and cutting them down. Another customer noted that the knife slices through cardboard very easily.
