According to a reviewer who owns both Struggle for Catan and Rivals for Catan (which is a different game despite the similar names), Struggle is better if you like a simpler and shorter playtime, while Rivals has greater depth and takes longer to play. The game's rules are accessible for children because it is easier to pick up than the Settlers of Catan board game. However, there is no expansion pack for 5-6 players available, and the game rules state that a second copy of the game is necessary to accommodate more players.
